catch up 2019
Dottie-
So my sweet girl- I’m not sure what happened as it appears
there are many posts that have gone missing. I think I was using an app on my
phone and the two must not have synched up. Sorry for the gap in your logs (it
happened to Hazel too).
So let’s see- where should we begin? I write this from the
beach on Whidbey Island and you are inside working on your mindcraft world- it
is very impressive with a zoo, village and lots of adventurous places.
You just finished kindergarten and I couldn’t be more proud
of how you did. You entered kindergarten a slightly timid and shy girl and left
full of confidence and vigor. In fact, your amazing teacher (Mr OCallaghan)
said you had the definition of moxy. You have made some great friends including
Harper Jean and Miko and you have taken your caring and thoughtful approach
with you as you’ve grown up. Don’t lose that. It is special.
The kindergarten year had many firsts for you- you learned
to swim at the JCC, you participated in Parkour and Gymnastics at the Boys and
Girls Club, became a great skier, learned to tide the bus on your own and even
began to read some words.
What does Dottie like these days??

This summer you are in a bunch of camps including Zoo Camp,
Mincraft Camp, Pacific Science Center/ Seattle Children’s TheaterPotions camp
and lots more through the JCC.
This school year we went on a few fun family vacations
including a ski trip to Big White where we had the best time ice skating,
skiing, hot tubing, playing in the snow and drinking lots of hot chocolate.
We also went on an amazing roadtrip in Southern Utah where
we visited sveral national parks – Arches, Canyonlands, Monument, Bryce and
Zion. We went horse back rising and did some great hikes. I made a book about
the trip and I hope you still have it by the time you read this.
In August I’m taking you girls to Lake Chelan again (this
will be our third year and the second with just the girls). We always have a
blast swimming in the lake and going to the waterslide park.
We had many fun day trips too including visiting a few fun pool
centers that have lazy rivers and slides, we went mushroom hunting in the
mountains, lots of trips to the zoo, aquarium and the library.
I’m including some photos to help will in the blanks from
the last year and a half and I hope it does it justice.
You are such a sweet girl but also one that can get quite
hot headed when you feel justice was not served or life is not fair. We’re
working on that and I know you’ll get to owning your big feelings soon.
Remember, only you can determine if you’re going to be sad, upset, angry, or
happy. Own and drive your own feelings and make the life you want for yourself.
With so much love you can’t even understand, Mommy.

Getting in the Halloween mood
This year we didn't get a chance to go to the pumpkin patch on Whidbey Island so we went to Fox Hallow Farm for their fun farm extravaganza. We played with baby animals, rolled in the corn pit, and looked for the perfect pumpkin of course.
my little ballerina
you were enthralled when you saw the Nutcracker last year that I knew you needed to take lessons. We signed you up at the Pacific Northwest Ballet and you are in the creative movement class and are having a blast. While you won't let me watch during watch week, I get to sneak a peak through the upstairs window when you dance around. I love watching that smile and joy on your face (compared to the grumpy face I get every once in a while). Just kidding : )
Dottie's Fifth Birthday Party
We start early at our house- 6am to be precise! Filled with cake and fun. We celebrated a joint birthday with a few of your favorite friends from school, Lucas, Lily, and Xander of course. A bowling filled morning of fun.
